How to Capitalize on the Basement Burnout
Club Solutions recently posted an article referencing a study conducted by Orangetheory Fitness and Kelton Global. The survey found that 70% of the surveyed exercising Americans miss their pre-Covid-19 workout routine. This includes being at a gym, having access to different equipment, and having variety in their workouts. These people are experiencing the “Basement Burnout.”
Here are 5 Ways to Capitalize on the Basement Burnout:
- Offer “Back to the Gym” special pricing
Give new and old members a reason to sign up at your facility. Offering a discount with a year paid up front, higher tier memberships at a lower price, or waiving enrollment fees are just a few ideas that can encourage people to take that first step of getting back in the gym.
- Plan a “Back to the Gym” event or week celebration (if local guidelines permit)
Especially after this last year, people are ready to socialize and have fun. Plan a one day or all week event to get people back in your facility with themed classes, social hours, and friendly competitions. Your members will be excited to get back to your facility and have some fun.
- Offer Tours for existing Members to Showcase new equipment or areas in your gyms
If you were one of the facilities that took Covid-19 as an opportunity to make some upgrades, show them off! Your members are already excited about being back at your gym, even without any upgrades. Take the time to show them some of their new options in your facility and they will be even more excited to be back!
- Offer incentives for certain amount of visits in a month
Get $10 to spend at the gym for every 10 visits in a month, or any dollar amount for any number of visits that you think will encourage your members. We’ve already covered how to get them in the door, but this should keep them coming!
- Use Social Media
We all know that social media is a great way to reach your members. Use this opportunity to showcase your members and the fun going on at your facility. Your members will be eager to return!
